“Amazing Grace: Giving Yourself The Gift Of Grace”

By Guest Blogger – Erica Grady

Good job, I’m so proud of you, and congratulations are all terms of endearment that we often give our friends, family members, and even strangers to express our honor of them in their wins of life. Why do we often fall short of giving ourselves these same accolades?

Don’t Dwell on the Negative

Whether an accomplishment is big or small, personal or interpersonal, external or internal, it’s important to clap for ourselves as well. Oftentimes, we are so quick to put ourselves down and dwell on the negative instead of nosediving into the positive. We can be our own biggest critics sometimes. After all, we are only human and the first reaction tends to be of that nature but it’s never too late to reverse that method.

Clap for Yourself Too

When we tackle hardships big or small, it’s important to give ourselves grace and not be so hard on ourselves. We should encourage and uphold ourselves to the standard of pushing through and making it through. When we tackle bad days and hard moments, we should hoop, holler and cheer for ourselves. When we score in the game of life, we should stomp and yell for ourselves!

The victory of defeating opponents both seen and unforeseen is an indescribable feeling! Once we get a taste of a win, it fills us up and we want to win again and again and we will do just that! Remember that it’s not about how we feel in the moment, but the outcome of it passing. It’s just a moment and it should be treated as such but not dwelled in. You may have gone through, over, and under that rock and a hard place but you rose above it and overcame it! Give yourself a pat on the back! Amazing grace how sweet thee sound!
